Specialized Support For Moms

wanting-to-be, soon-to-be or new moms

The transition into becoming a parent can be exciting. Still, it can also be overwhelming, filled with grief, and nerve-wracking, which may lead you to feel alone, exhausted and isolated, often processing incredibly challenging feelings. We want to help you develop strategies you can use to cope with these changes, build resilience, and heal.

We provide a wide range of counselling services to treat life’s challenges that may impact your mental health. We give a trauma-aware, safe place to work through these challenges in a mutually respectful environment because when we feel well, we do well for ourselves and the world around us.

Coming from Experience

  • We are moms; we have our own lived experience and sought therapy to find our way.

  • We are highly trained and specialized in Postpartum and trauma

  • We prioritize your mental wellbeing and offer a judgment free space.

What We Specialize In

You deserve care from someone who GETS it, and that’s us.

  • While deviating from your ideal birth plan is normal, difficult labours or major unplanned medical interventions can leave moms unsure how to process what happened. A traumatic birth can result from a loss or a fear/threat of loss, a fear for one’s own survival through the birth process, or trauma caused by losing control during birth and the feeling that something was done to you without your explicit consent.

A powerful step towards healing and becoming the mom you want to be can start with processing your birth, whether you view it as traumatic or disappointing or desire to explore how the reality deviated from your expectations. Everyone recovers from their journey in their unique way, and we’re here to help you figure out what that will look like.

  • Having a baby can be very stressful no matter how much you have planned, anticipated or love your child. The baby blues are normal, but if these feelings intensify or don’t go away after a few weeks, you may have postpartum depression or anxiety.

PPD can interfere with your ability to care for your child and yourself, so getting support and therapy is vital in returning to a happy motherhood. We can help you gain control over your mood, feel more balanced and move through the postpartum experience with more ease.

  • Infertility can rob you of feeling in control over your life. Managing symptoms of stress and developing resiliency can help to get a sense of taking back some of your control by changing how you show up in these stressful moments. You don’t have to go through this journey alone or feel alone in these moments. Having support can help this process feel a little more manageable. Working together, we can help ease some of these feelings and struggles. Therapy can be a safe place to let out all of the feelings and thoughts as you sort through these experiences and the impact this has on your mental, physical, and emotional health.

  • Experiencing the loss of a pregnancy or an infant can leave you feeling heartbroken, angry, lonely, and disconnected from friends and family. Together, we will explore ways to reconnect you with yourself and your body, your partner and friends, and ways to manage triggers in your everyday world. We’ll explore how to support you so you can experience joy and still honour your loss.

How We Support Moms

  • NeurOptimal Neurofeedback can benefit moms seeking to improve their mental and emotional well-being, heal from trauma, be more present and optimize their brain function.

  • EMDR therapy is a trauma-focused approach that uses bilateral stimulation to help moms process traumatic memories, reduce distressing symptoms, and foster emotional healing and well being.

  • Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that can help moms manage and alleviate negative symptoms and reprocess trauma.

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours contributing to psychological distress and emotional difficulties.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented and strengths-based approach to psychotherapy. It focuses on helping moms identify and build solutions to their problems rather than dwelling on the problems themselves or their underlying causes.

  • Mindfulness, as a concept, involves paying non-judgmental attention to the present moment, fostering self-awareness, and accepting one’s thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without attempting to change or judge them.
